I only managed to catch the last quarter of this game due to my own basketball commitments. Same game as Gu's thread here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=55572) . My head wasnt really in it after a hectic rush to even make the last quarter, but we live we learn :) Here are a few pictures I thought were OKish

I know I've got a long way to go on Gu's images but I think I really need to get a decent position and sit tight rather than wandering as much as I did in this game. Would also love to be able to use 1600 instead of 3200 (these were 70-200 F2.8IS).

Any helpful critique would be welcome, as well as general 'Gu is better' comments

Cheers

I like the first shot. The "glow" on the second is disturbing though. Too much Shadow/Highlights or something?

So, just to get clarifcation...even with the 70-200/2.8, you still had to use ISO 3200 to get these shots? I would have hoped that the 70-200/2.8 would allow you to keep the ISO at 800 or below.

lol scottes well spotted I hadnt noticed that it was an experiment in photoshop that ive since brushed up on

FlipsidE you dont realise how dim sports halls are....F1.8 only gets me 1/500th @ 1600. Thats why the weapon of choice for most shooter is the 85 F1.8 and the 135 F2

Nice shots.
Yes, I agree about the sport halls being relatively dim (even if they SEEM bright).
I recently shot some volleyball in a new, well-lit university arena. It had the new, "bright", white xenon lighting, and even at F2 I could only get 1/500s at ISO1600 (exactly as you described rg).
