Umbrella question

I have to go to walmart today to get some things, my question is will an old white umbrella work? Or do I have to buy ones specially made for lighting?

i guess technically you could get a white umbrella to work but it would be inefficient and you would have no way to mount it (true umbrellas have no handle). so buy one made for lighting, they aren't very expensive.

The one for photography off from ebay are usually less than the ones at walmart because they don't need to be water proof. Although that may come in handy at a outside shoot. :lol: But I have still yet to find a umbrella at walmart that is all white. I would like to keep one in my car for both uses.
