AE Lock on the drebel

-when should i use the AE Lock?
-where in the picture should i aim the AE lock?
-when i dont use the AE lock does the camera determine the exposure to the brightness of the subject in the center of the viewfinder?

- In a picture where the main subject is significantly brighter or dimmer than the average for the pic
- At what you want correctly exposed
- I think it averages over 35 points in the frame, but i'm not sure about that one. Bob will know.
