Sweet! I almost bought the kit, but I needed a portrait lens, so I got a 50mm f/1.8 & a 512 memory card.

Will be making the same committment tomorrow, but it willl set me back approx US$1840. (retail is 3399 - US$2400).
Can't be bothered shipping from USA, waiting, worrying about warranty problems, and paying more tax.

i had a nikon coolpix 2500 for a long time and i was really out growing it. i bought a canon G5 last month in hopes to hold me over for a while. I like the G5 but then i started to want to get wide conversion lenses and all of these accessories and stuff and i just thought it would be stupid to do that to a non SLR. so i convinced my wife to let me get the 20D. I think I'm going to keep the G5 around for when I don't feel like lugging around a backpack.

I have loved my 20D . . . and we kept our G's/Pro1 as well. Everything has its best use, time and place. But the picture quality . . . gosh. If I had know there was that much difference I would have gotten on the Canon DSLR wagon a lot sooner. Something for those who are holding out to consider. Shooting side by side . . . the 20D kills everything else we own.

I was looking at the 1D Mk II earlier... but for a casual photographer with no ambition to make a living using it it'd be a bit of an overkill. The 20D would be nice for the higher frame rate and lower ISO noise... but no, I don't need it. I don't need it. And i'm sticking to that story. The limitation is still me rather than the current camera, a rebel, which i've only had for about 3 months.
Once the 30D's out i'll be all over it like a rash :)
