Nellis AFB NV is home to one of the largest US Military exercises with many allied forces taking part in the 4 week event taking place each year during July & August. Today was the last day for this Red Flag and I was lucky enough to get some photos on the line. It took numerous phone calls and several days this week to get approval but it was well worth the work. I was excited to be able to see the Indian Air Force's SU-30MKI.

Same aircraft taking off, I was little bummed we weren't further down the line and able to have the jet cross our path further in flight and have their landing gear up but we didn't really have an option of moving.

Couple prop planes landing, I'm not sure what type they are don't think they were part of Red Flag either but they are interesting to photograph non the less.

The prop planes are T-6 Texan II's, and no I'm pretty sure they aren't there for Red Flag. Unless doing stalls and loops is part of Red Flag now. :D
Nice images, watch your leveling on them. They look pretty crooked in some of them. And I know that Nellis' runways aren't at an angle, I've landed there several times.
It is cool sitting there at Nellis watching all those jets taking off. It's almost non stop action there.

So your still in the AF, what airframe do you fly? Thanks for the tips, I realigned the pix with adobe RAW.

Sad to see the F-5's gone out of the Aggressor role. Loved those F-5's was stationed in PI and roommate was an Aggressor CrewDog. I was a F-4 guy.
Your pics may be mislabled. first F15 looks like 125th fighter wing guard out of Jacksonville not Eglin and the other F-15s are from there at Nellis part of the 57 wing based on tail markings and codes.

Yeah, but you'll be using Nikon when you're in the AF.

Another Eglin F-15C taking off With the air brake open? :D I don't think so. It looks like you duplicated the link for the following image.
Great shots, though. Looks like all the work you put into getting permission was worth it.

:) Fix it, looks like I had a few mistakes in my text and post. I still have to replace the pix which I realigned.

Yeah, I heard. Any "real" reason why the military rarely uses Canon?

Yeah, Nikon is lower cost than Canon. Our base is getting the D3x here soon.

I've never seen any of the combat photographers use anything other than Nikon. I'd imagine as far is work is concerned they have to use issued equipment.

How far along are you in your your enlistment process? Are/did you have to enlist for public affairs? I'm asking cause photography & videography career fields are merging with public affairs.

I have no idea, it wouldn't surprise me why allow folks to use person gear when they have military issue?

Nice series of pics. IMO, who cares what you shoot with. I would shoot with a Kodak disposable if I could do if for/in the military with that kind of access. :)

Great set. Noticed the Texan IIs are from here local, Randolph AFB....that's a long flight. They were probably doing navigation training or night flight the previous night.
