I shot this today with the BigMa & 20D @ about 200mm. We have not had a clear day in a while and even with the inversion . . . this is pretty good. Sad to say, nonetheless this barn is a local landmark painted with the glowing benefits of the "Woman's Tonic." I think it was first painted in the 1920's and when it starts to fade . . . someone goes out and freshens it up. Sorry for the drab colors and or lack of same.

The gray barn is in nice contrast with the snow. I like it.

Nice shot. What do you know about the tonic? ;)

Regarding the tonic . . . it is, or was typical 'snake oil' sold by traveling peddlers in the first part of the 1900's. Before billboards and such modern things, barns were coveted for their 'commercial' value to promote products at the time. It is one of the last of this type ventures . . . and as thus has been kept up for its historical value.
Having said that, this would make a nice coffee table photo book subject. Finding and recording all the remaining billboard buildings.
Thank you for the kind words and response.

Wow. Snake oil is a woman's favorite tonic? Maybe this is how Charlesu gets his models?

Reminds me of the "See Rock City" ads painted on barns all over the Southeast US many years ago. (Rock City is a tourist attraction atop Lookout Mountain, Tn. I don't know how they currently advertise.)

Thanks MT & Sparker . . . I am going to try and re-shoot this with blue sky and a cloud or two. There is a nice horse pasture in the foreground, well there was before all this snow came. I suppose many used building for adds in the, lol, distant past. I just like old barns as well.
