Yeah, that among many other features sounds great. However I do not see a point in moving backwards by decreasing anything. I would also like to have seen a better AF system. Although I am curious about the AF fine tuning. I wonder how reliable this link is? I have never used that site, has anyone else?

No. In fact the burst speed is exactly the same because the 40D can only do 6.3 fps as well (in optimum conditions, e.g. shutter speeds of 1/4000 or faster).

Canon has simply revised their over-optimistic specs.

This is just another ploy by Canon China (Canon HK is part of it) to deflect all speculations on EOS 5D's successor to another model which will not be released until another 6-7 months from now.

They first did it with the "leaked" data of the EOS 40D via a section of Canon HK's site in early 2007, and succeed in getting the global audience talking about the camera and diverted the attention away from the 1D II N's successor, the Mark III.

So how does Canon stand to gain by diverting discussion to another model. What's their strategy that would make them do this and what benefit comes to them? Does not make sense to me.

Beats me. The Asian people operate on a different mentality when it comes to business management, which can be weird or complex to the Western's world expectations.

The only thing you can take into consideration is how much Canon had gained last year by diverting attention away from the Mark III by performing that 40D leaked data?

Hey!
There is no reason for excitement until it is confirmed that the camera sports a dedicated, non-reasignable DirectPrint-button.

Canon has simply revised their over-optimistic specs.

Yeah, that 0.2 of a frame per second is such a deal-breaker, isn't it?
