G'Day All.
Couple of insects. Firstly the common honey bee. I'm real cautious around these guys :-) :-).
Secondly a preying mantis.
Both photos with the EOS300D + 18-55lens.

Thanks EoSD30fReAk - I think it's the best lens I have at the moment, at least until I can afford L.

Both are good shots. I think the kit lens does pretty well, as you've shown.

Nice. I like the background on both. That bee is so sharp, I swear we can count the hairs on his backside if we wanted to.

Thanks sparker1 and TammieO.
The 18-55 does all right (99.99% of the time the bad ones are my fault). I may upgrade in the far future (2-3 years or so)

It was the sharp bit of his backside I was trying to avoid :-). And I'm not counting those hairs - any volunteers :-).

Nice shots. My rebel and kit lens are on the way and I am very encouraged to think I can get these kind of shots. I am so excited! It should be here in a couple of days.

Thanks queenbee228. Yeah you should be definitely able to get pictures like this (probably better though). The most important thing with bees is patience (they don't sit still for long), and try and avoid getting stung !
Happy hunting with the new toy :-)
