The first one could use a touch more processing, I think the colors and contrast is a touch low for my tastes.
The second one is a bit too much for me with the over dodged eyes and the slightly plasticky look on the left check.
As for the colors, I think the second one is a touch nicer for me.

I like the second one much better, except I think the processing could be scaled back just a tad. He was a little heavy-handed with the saturation imo. I do think he did very well to remove the two long distracting hairs. The first thing I noticed in the first version were those hairs.
I would not consider it a slight that he changed your photo, more of a compliment really that he considered the photo good and interesting enough to spend the time editing.

The first image is awesome as is. But I would add a cresent-shaped hint of brown in the iris opposite the catch light.
The second image is amataurish (if mispelled, please forgive) in comparison.

I like the 1st photo better. However I prefer the eyes from the second one. They are both good shots though.

I like #1. The second one has too much saturation and contrast. The highlight on the nose, left cheek, and lip on the second one is too bright and is on the verge of losing detail. However, some people prefer highly saturated colors on photographs, so it boils down to a matter of choice.

It took me a while to get it. I see more of her eyes and a little more of her face in the second. Did you do any PP in #1?
I like #2 a little better but #1 is the best because Dad took it.
Thanks for the post

If the eyes didn't exist I'd like the first one better. But, because they do exist, I like the 2nd one better. You can see color. Even with catchlights, the eyes in the first one just look like blank black dots. You can "see her" in her eyes in the 2nd pic.

I will agree that the eyes in the first one needed a little brightening, but the processing on the eyes in the second one are over the top in my opinion.

I like the cooler temperature of the first image, though it could be cranked up just a notch ... maybe for me, the WB is slightly off. I agree with most of the comments about the eyes here... you should do some pp on the eyes in your image.
The second one doesn't do it for me at all... the only thing I like are the eyes, although a bit saturated and unnatural
