Hi
I got a canon powershot a40 recently and although it works very well, I cant submit photos to some websites because there is corrupt end to a data segment (well thats what the error message said!). I ran a search on yahoo to see if there was anything to fix this, and there is, a program called iView, but that only works on Macs. Please help me is you can because submitting photos to this website was one of the main reasons I bought the camera! (It's not porn or anything, just www.airliners.net )

Is it possible to view the image from your PC? or you got a lot of corrupt images that can't even be downloaded to PC? If the answer to 2nd is yes, you'd better send the camera for servicing. You are not supposed to get even a single corrupt image, it might be camera problem.

So you _can_ retrieve photos from camera to your own PC hard disk?
I'm not sure I understand the problem (sorry). Where have you tried to submit photos so far? Original files or resized by some program? Do you have photos now online somewhere?

No, I can download and see the images fine, but the problem is that when I try to submit a photo to the website I want to, an error message is generated that says that there is a premature end to a data segment and the file cannot be submitted. I understand this is a problem with some canon digital cameras.
I opened the photos using exifer to show me the exif data of the image and in the "makernotes" section there are five lines highlighted in red called "unknowns" and I assume these are what is causing the problem. The only program which mentions and fixes these is called iView but is for macintosh so therefore doesnt work.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks very much

I see what you mean now. I've downloaded exifer program and viewed my images with it. All of them shows 5 unknown data field at makernotes section, but I've never experienced your problem before. I assume you didn't edit your image before trying to upload to your website, right?
In any case, try to upload an un-exif-ed (normal JPG image) to your website. Maybe exifed JPG is not compatible with their server. You can also try to upload your image to www.pbase.com to know whether you image got problem or your website got one.

I downloaded FotoStation and saved the files in that and now the error message is "Exception 325: Corrupt JPEG data: 339 extraneous bytes before marker 0xd9"
Does this mean anything to anyone because it might as well be Korean for the amount of sense it makes to me!
Thanks
