I have rented a studio lighting set for the weekend am playing around with it. I have noticed that if I turn the shutter speed up above 200 that the shutter or mirror get caught in the exposure. Is this normal or am I missing a setting. The lighting kit uses Elinchrom 400BX strobes with unmbrellas. I am using a synch cord to fire them.
Thanks, zucchini

Normal.
Refer to your 5D or 400D manual, "using non-Canon flash units."

Yeah. Sometimes i manage to get up to 1/320th out of them, but YEP! That's the deal.
1/250th is normal, 1/125th on some of the larger sensor cameras like the 1Ds~~~.

1/125th should be used with studio units or radio slaves.
