View Full Version : Foggy Day, Dull G1 Shots

I recently visited the Isle of Iona, off the west coast of Scotland. Nice place, but the weather was typical: foggy and rainy. My G1 shots seem dull and flat. When I try to tweak them in Photoshop, they come out looking quite unnatural. Can anyone suggest ways in Photophop to give these images more life?

Thanks,

I don't know if this is too un-natural, but I tweaked photo 3 a little in PS6:

Auto levels, then selected sky with magic wand, then adjusted using curves to get an "S" with some detail and color, then 100% blend and flatten.
More could be done Im sure.

Give photoshops auto-contrast a try. It is very good at correcting this sort of thing.

Hi,
I'm still learning myself. But recently have been doing much better. I live on an island off the coast of Maine. We have had many dull days blanketed in fog. But it's good for practicing with the G1.
I think my pictures are getting much better.
I have 3 of my recent shots with the attributes if you want to take a look. Start with "foggy day at Seawall" and the next 2 shots after that.
I don't do much photo editing anymore. Once in awhile I have to crop a little because they sometimes are crooked and I have to straighten them.
All 3 were shot on very foggy, dark days.
Maybe the attributes will help you out a little.

What an understatement that is...you've got it figured out. Nice shots.

Hi Sharon
Loved your shots, but I did not fully understand how you made them on a dull day. I am new to digital photography and own a G1. My summer shots were great, but I went to the Isle Of Man last week and all my shots were dull. Which 'attributes' did you use?
thanks, in anticipation,
gibson
