Looks like pink batting insulation to me. An interesting shot, but I'm not real crazy about the color treatment. It could be more saturated for my taste.

Thank you all for your comments. Yes, I was aware of those two eyes (water bubbles). But have you seen the dreamer? The ghost showing the left half of the face in the upper left corner? Big, bulged eye, dark nostril, two closed lips and a rounded chin...

And now for those who felt a slight (or not so slight) disgust... here's a totally different colored version.

Although I personally had not these gory association as many others have stated, but I understand the need to see mainly "nice" fotos, so here's one for you. ;)

Not sure either what I'm looking at but it doesn't really do much for me. If anything I'd say it has to be some kind of fabric piled on top of another.

Easy now... as with all abstract shots: it's everything you want it to be. Use your imagination. Photography is not just about the technical background - it's about learning to see, to imagine, to come up with interpretations...

eeuw as in gross, stepping in a silty lake/pond makes my skin crawl. I'm more of an ocean kinda guy. We went to lake Garda (near you) two summers ago and I spent most of my time in the hotel pool, the lake floor was real gooey. Had I come up with your idea I would have tried to get a shot too, but I'm not very creative. :(
