Could you exlain the process you use, what happens after saving, what program is giving this error, how often, etc etc etc?
This is "just" a broken JPEG - it could be a million things.
More info needed.

card to pc (basic drag and drop windows) ---> PC to Mac on nentwork via FTP ---> then open in ANY software and this error occurs on ever photo that was transfered. Im guessing the FTP did something to the files.

Maybe the FTP accidently sent the files as ASCII format, Rather than Binary. Also if you need to copy from PC to Mac, you can share a folder on your PC and drag and drop it from the PC to the mac, using basic windows file sharing, its supported on Mac OS X now.

Yeah, it sounds like FTP translation error. Try transferring one back to the PC and see if you can open it. What FTP program are you using?

Did you remember to transfer the file as a binary instead of ASCII?

Hmm, sounds like a classic FTP problem of using ASCII mode instead of Binary.

no, it was on binary...I looked at that when when we transfered
ws_ftp was the software on the computer we were using

That's why I asked what FTP client. Most clients, ws_ftp for one, automatically use binary mode for binary files.
Not sure then, but I'd still try transfering one back to the PC via FTP and see if it opens there.
If you want, email me one and I will try few JPEG converters I have to see if they can repair it.
