Check date of production (Canon 380EX)

I recently bought a 380EX on ebay which was described as new.

Is there any place that I can check the date of manufacture of this flash - tried canon.co.uk but could not find any place to email/contact.

They haven't made if for a bit now...but it could be new in box but I'm sure the warranty is no good. At least you got an EX speedlight.

Thanks - I have been offered a full refund by seller. Will probably go for 420EX (new this time!). I don't mind buying used - as long as its in good condition and I pay accordingly.
