WOW what a forum !!!! Lots of great stuff.

Would like an opinion though on lenses......
I am currently using a Tamron 28-300 Lens as my general all around lens.
I use it alot for motorsports photography and wildlife, but would like to get some
opinions from anyone else using this lens as to how they like it and also suggestions
on other options ( that don't break the bank ).

I got the EFS 18-55 with the camera, should I have gotten the 17-80???
I was concerned with the speed of the 17-80 in low light situatuations.....

Thanks, I look forward to your opinions.............

:D

What does your 28-300 not do that you want it to do? If it does what you need then there's no need to buy more lenses.

My 28-300 does not do very well in low light conditions.

However, now that I have the 20d and I have read a few more threads,
maybe I just need to adjust the iso higher and it may be fine.

I am also using a Canon 420ex flash now.....

If you want better low light performance you could consider the 50mm F1.8 or the Tamron 28-75 F2.8. The tamron is my walkaround lens and does a good job, the 50mm F1.8 only comes out in low light when I can't use my flash.

Have you put the hacked firmware onto your camera? They'll give you FEC, which would be handy with the 420EX's lack of controls.

I like the idea of the Tameron 28-75, I may look at that .

What do you think of the canon 17-80 just out?

You can tell I am fairly new to all of this, where do you get the hacked firmware for the 420-ex?
tks for the assist
:)

Have a look at this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=42034) for info on hacking the 300D. I did it, no problems at all.

I can't help you with that lens sorry, try here (http://www.photographyreview.com/Lenses/PSC_3787crx.aspx) or http://fredmiranda.com
