Turn off Sharpening?

Does anyone know how to completely turn off sharpening on the D60? I know it can be set to low but I'd like to turn it completely off. The Fred Miranda photoshop actions recommend not using any in-camera sharpening but I've no clue how to do this. Any ideas?

Not sure whether the D60 is the same as the D30, but if it is, then the only way to avoid sharpening (and contrast, saturation) is to use conversion from raw to linear TIFF. This would mean using Fred's Linear Pro action (or an equivalent) as linear TIFF files need adjustment to make them usable.

If you take the linear conversion option in breezebrowser this is the cleanest image you can get from the chip...........I think. You can then use one of miranda actions in photoshop to convert to RGB. I use the LP llinear D60 action. Ive used this method for the last few weeks and comparing it with normal conversions from raw, im impressed by the differences.

I don't think you can change to absolutely zero sharpening, Tom as digital images do need sharpening. I think Fred means that you shouldn't have your parameters set to High to use his actions but I have mine set to High and still use Fred's CSPro actions and don't find it too sharp! IMHO having it set to High somewhat decreases the need for sharpening after the event. I know I'm going to get an argument here and yes, I do shoot in RAW half of the time! That said, I may just change the parameters to normal and see if there is any visible change to my images.

If you use the linear conversion, then you _do_ get an image that has no in-camera sharpening applied or contrast and saturation adjustments. Only white balance adjustments can be applied. As Andy pointed out, this is the cleanest image data. I think it's better to use the power of Photoshop rather the more limited capabilities of the camera where possible.

Thank everyone for your great responses. I guess it's time to buy a larger flash card so I can take all my shots in RAW mode only!

Use the setting "As Shot" for Sharpening in the Canon Raw Image Converter or the TWAIN Interface.

You can do the same with contrast, saturation, etc.
