Here are a couple shots I took on 8/22. I'd like your comments please. Downsized of course for the forum.

Your ISO for the first shot is 200... That's kind of slow for low light indoors... The 50mm f1.8 is relatively slow to focus, especially in low light. That could be the reason for the slightly soft results.
The 2nd pic has interesting motion... Since the EXIF is not available, can't tell about the camera settings.

Thanks for the input. I had to start somewhere.
I've got others but what is good to me may not be good to others, so I'll keep them to myself.
The second shot was shot with a sigma 30 1.4, ISO 400, Tv 1/80, Av 2.2.
That explains the blur I guess but thought it to be an interesting shot nonetheless.
I just received a Canon 85 1.8 today. Maybe that will help.

First is okay, apart from the shake.
Had ISO 800 been used, you'd have had a keeper.

Then he was moving pretty fast!
Also: Focus is on the guitar. I'd have preferred the face.
Ah, no: I see you applied a blur to it in processing...
Not too good IMO. I'd try a motion blur instead of a gaussian.

It might.
Using higher ISO would help as well ;)

I have sooo much to learn! Thanks for the tips.
Rene, you are right. I did apply the blur. I was trying to concentrate on the hand since his head was already OOF. I thought it turned our ok but just wanted to see what others thought. I'll see what the motion does instead.
I'm anxious to have another try at this.....with higher ISO!
