Just wondering what the 300D looks like with a battery grip on and i was wondering if the camera runs off one or two batteries at a time in the battery grip?

Cheers AirEOS

Works with both, hope you enjoy the BG-E1  Ive liked mine, had it for about 8 months now. Yes, you can use both batteries at once.

Thanks guys, yeah i get mine in 3 days when my mate gets back from overseas...i picked on eup in Hong Kong for $US110..is that a good price?

CrazyFoo..thats some set up you have there...is that external flash make peoples faces or objects really bright or has it an inbuilt system that gives the right amount of flash?..anychace of seeing a front view of the battery grip on your camera mate.

Cheers AirEOS

AirEOS, I believe that the flash pictured above is the new 580EX with ETTL-II Technology in it. Which means it should (in theory) properly expose the subject based on the metering performed before the shot is taken. Now take into account what I just said is the most muted version of how canon ETTL flash works, there are many documents on this, and should be read over and over and over again to begin to properly understand how to use it.
Also for front pics, try doing a search, I remember a post from the spring I think that had some wonderful photos of the rebel from the front, both with and without the grip just to show us the difference.

ETTL II is in the camera, not the flash. The 300D/580EX can't take advantage of the knowledge that the area exposed is cropped by 1.6X either, which just means more power is used, or more area than required is illuminated by the flash.

Personally 500 ish shots per battery's enough for me, I replace it when it runs out, which doesn't happen that often. A battery grip just runs the batteries in parallel, which means the required power is taken from both batteries at the same time. If you're using the onboard flash it might recharge slightly faster, but most people who want good results use an external flash.

The grip was one of the best things I bought for my 300D, and was the first thing I got for my 20D. I pesonally have never gotten 500 shots out of 1 battery let alone 2. But then again I spent most of my time in sports mode (AI servo), or constantly pushing the shutter release half way trying to track something with my sigma 100-300 f/4. That setup on a cold day can drain both batteries in 1 soccer game.

Is that the 70-200 F2.8 IS? Or perhaps the 100-400? I used one of them once, and damn they're a heavy lens.

I think that's the 70-200 f/2.8L IS

Here's another pic of the Rebel with grip. (for those wondering: Manfrotto 3021BPro legs, 488 head with Kirk Arca-Swiss clamp, 80-200 f/2.8L). I love my grip - it never leaves the camera.
