Ergh, makes me shudder. I know if I have nothing positive to post, I should not reply but it just makes me sad seeing the same topics posted every few days.
I say Dec 2009/Jan 2010. Wow that seems far! Canon better make a start.

Well first... perhaps you shouldn't read in the POTN Camera Rumors and Predictions section if that's your reaction. Secondly D50 and D60 has been out a loooong time... even Canon D60 ;)

Tuesday Feb 17 2009, right after their extended Winter rebates expire. I have this from a very reliable source. although my source has no knowledge in this area :D

My guess is that Canon will launch a reverse engineering program. They will start
with all present models and systematically work backwards until they develop the
ultimate camera. It will consist of a large box mounted on a tripod with a hand-
held flash powered by gun powder. The exposure time will be two or three seconds
and all finished prints will be on tin and in sepia tone. The photographer will stand directly
behind the camera body with a black curtain draped over their head to avoid
light contamination. The shutter will be of the manual type (removable disc),
and all subjects will have to remain perfectly still during the exposure. This new
state of the art equipment will only function on very sunny clear days outdoors
only.

If I buy I 50D then the 60D will come out just as soon as I can no longer return my 50D for a full refund.

60D 1 year from now, and it will have VIDEO.
The D90's video mode is the end of non-video crop cameras.
Canon put the kitchen sink in the 50D to cut sales of the D300 but Nikon played the ACE with video in a cheaper D90 system
Mark this post the 50D will sell with rebates for under $1000 over the next year.
Used under $800.
It looks like the gapless micro lenses may help with light gathering but it makes the per pixel image softer with less detail. The lenses are gapless, the photo diodes are not, thats the issue. Think of bubble wrap over a screen window.
The much cheaper XS and XSi may all but equal the detail of the 50D and use much less card space per picture.
Hope I'm wrong but the D90 video mode has the 50D trumped before its even shipped.

Yup the D90 looks very good. So iŽll give the 50D 8 months and will see a new 60D. So donŽt buy the 50D look for a 60D in the near future. No sales of the 50D imagine the price drop of that production product.

If they put Video on I'm sorry I dn't want it, I take photos not video.

I hope you are joking. Do you refuse to buy a computer because it has the capability of playing games? Do you refuse to buy a camera phone because you only want to use it as a phone?
My cell phone can capture video. I've never used it to capture video, but it can. I certainly would not consider that a reason to reject it.

Yeah same goes with me. My phone can surf net but that doesn't mean I choose it for that features.
Nowadays technology is cheap. They just bundle everything if the cost is reasonable.
a camcorder can take picture. a P & S can take video. A phone can take picture and video.
But that's just an option only.
If they invent a device that could match a video camcorder(+ features) and a DSLR at a P & S price, then there'd no longer camcorder, DSLR.
Imagine a porsche selling at korean car price? What's make you decide to get the Korean car instead?
Also if a Rolex is selling at Japanese watch price, wonder who'd still choose the later?
BTW, let get's back to the main topic. As Canon havee just release 50D for a couples of months, I guess the earliest time they'd release 60d would be next year sometime around Aug-Nov 2010.
Let check our prediction who get the most accurate guess.
I think why not be create a competition who get the most correct prediction and the winner would be rewarded a 60D with serial number 1:).

60D needs to step up big time...
HD move mode (30-60fps)
(NO way they will move the MP up on this 1.6 crop sensor, so i say make it 18mp on a full frame)
50iso - 12,800 iso (that's usable)
i would kill for a flip out screen, think how much that would come in handy on a SLR camera.

the 60D will not be FF. That would only happen if canon was going to abandon the 1.6X crop which wont happen because the enjoy selling beginers ef-s lenses then as people move up to FF they can't use and have to buy EF lenses. I do expect canon will make a 'budget' FF but it will probably be a 7D (or something similar) and not in the XXD family.
