How do i make a signature / logo for my pics?
I tried to make one on Printmaster but there are not many font choices and

search "watermark". you will find several ways to do it.

Pretty easy if you have Photoshop or something similar.
Open the image
Add a new layer
Type, format, etc what you want on the new layer
Save it, which will flatten the layers.
Those steps can be saved in an "action" that can be used over and over again on any picture(s) at the click of a button.

YEAH I HAVE ONE, BUT.. HOW DO I APPLY TO A LOT OF PHOTOS. ESPECIALLY PHOTOS WITH DIFFERENT SIZES. IS THERE A WAY TO DO THIS AUTOMATICALLY TO A BUNCH OF FOLDERS IN ONE FOLDER/

Once the action is created, (In Photoshop) File -> Automate -> Batch then select the action and set the other things like all open files, or point at a folder & destination folder and click go. It'll save and close each one if you set it to do so.
Sit back and enjoy the show.

The watermark size and placement is effected when the image size changes.
I made several watermarks to get proper placement every time; vertwater, horzwater, webwater, etc.
Granted, you have to sort the images accordingly.

The best way to do it is to make a brush with your logo. Open the logo you want as a watermark in photoshop. Flatten the image if it is not already done.
Goto Edit>Define Brush Preset.
Name it whatever you like and press> OK
Now Open your image that you want watermarked.
Select the Brush Tool
Choose the brush that looks like your logo
Select the Brush Size
Select the foreground color to that of which you want to stamped logo to be. I would suggest white or black.
Change the Opacity of the brush until it is the transluceny you like.
Stamp away with your watermark.

Is there an easy way to control where to apply the logo to based on image size and orientation in a batch mode? I don't think making different logos for different sized/oriented images is a feasible.

Good question, as in, always place it up xx pixels from the bottom and in xx pixels from the right edge.
I don't know but I'd love to know the answer too.

There are some programs you can buy that will do the batch watermark for you. I don't have the right version of Photoshop to do it that way, but I've been looking for a program that will do it for me. Does anyone here use something like that, or do you all just use Photoshop?

I have the same type of action for applying the sigs to my images with PS. I use a separate action for landscape and portrait and it repeats the positioning identically each time.

there's a Russell Brown tutorial on how to do this, and make it into an action.

you are correct, i just finished watching the tutorial and it talks about creating an action that works for both image orientations. One thing I m not quite sure is to automatically resize the logo so that it will work on images of all size.
the tutorial can be found here: http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html

I know this is days old, but it seems an outstanding question... so in case anyone is still interested, I can share how my action is set up. A caveat... the DPI on your batch needs to be consistent for my method. I always save everything at 300dpi, so it works for me.
If anyone is still interested in some details, let me know. It's a lot of stuff to type out so I don't want to do it unless people are interested. :)

I had some time so I went ahead and wrote it out. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. Hopefully it will be helpful to someone out there. :)
I actually do not use my action in a batch because it fits into another part of my workflow, but to place the watermark specifically in a way that can be batched, these are the steps I use:
1. Create a separate watermark.psd with the watermark on a transparent background (that is, if you want your watermark to be transparent). Create the file at the correct size and make sure the DPI matches the files you'll be batching. My watermark is something like 166 x 92 @ 300dpi. Save that in a place where it can live permanently.
2. First, create a blank sample file (at your chosen DPI and size similar to your finished image) and then create a new layer on your sample file so that you have 2 layers.
3. With the sample file open, create a new action in a new or existing action set. Now hit "Record" to start!
4. First, flatten your image (Layer --> Flatten Image). The action will rely on there being just one "Background" layer so you want to catch the flattening as the first step.
5.Go to File --> Place and find your watermark.psd, double click it. When it shows up on your canvas, click the checkmark in the toolbar or hit enter. Your watermark will be placed on a new layer called "watermark"
6. Hold down the shift key and select BOTH your watermark layer AND your Background layer. Then go to Layer --> Align and choose the most appropriate alignment options. You may need to do this more than once. For example, my watermark is aligned BOTH by the bottom edges AND by the horizontal centers. If you want yours to always be dead center, you can align by both the horizontal and vertical centers.
7. When you have your watermark placed approximately where you want it, you can deselect the background layer and select only the watermark layer. Then select the move tool (V) and make any relative adjustments (with arrows or shift-arrows). I move my watermark up by 5 pixels so it isn't sitting dead against the bottom edge.
That's it. Once you hit stop, you should be able to run that action on any file of similar size and matching DPI. If you batch both web display and full sized images, then you will need separate watermarks -- the sizes are not relative to the image. I only do this with web resized images, so I may be missing a way to make it universal for large and small files, but I have never needed that capability.
There are some limitations to this method, but it is generally effective. Obviously if the images vary wildly in size, it's not going to work well... but aligning by top, right, bottom, left, or center in similarly sized images should be safe.
My action also includes 8 bit conversion, resizing, web sharpening and borders. Running the action is the last thing I do before I close my finished PSD that I just saved as a full size JPG for printing.
My action goes from full size layered PSD to this in one click:

It's very late and I am seriously tired, so please let me know if I left anything out. I'm just killing time trying to get the baby to sleep, so she was helping and any mistakes are.. umm.. all her fault.

Actualy I have found a great free program that places watermarks on your pictures automatically and you can do batches if you like. It takes seconds. Also, it resizes pictures in batch too. This is one of the best free programs I have found. It's called 'Fast Stone Photo Resizer 2.5'. Try it out, you'll like it.
This is my first post and wanted to say this site is great! I am fairly experienced in photography and graphic design, but am happy to be here as I am sure I will learn a lot. See ya's around!
