What do you guys think? The obvious feature that Nikon is going to market is the ability to take video with it.
Also, price is less. At $999, I'd say Canon might have to drop it's price for the 50D somewhat.
But other then that, does anything jump out at you?

Yes, the fact that the two cameras are for clearly different markets. DXX cameras have generally been somewhere between the old XX0D and X0D cameras (so a D70 would be between a xt and a 20d) and the DX00 cameras have been in between the X0D and 1d lines. With the new 50d, 450d, and 1000d, canon competes directly with nikon on all levels. The XS goes against the d60 (but supports more lenses), 450d competes againts the D70 (except for the video mode, but we are talking about cameras not camcorders), and the 50d competes with the D300 (one has much more in the lines of MP, the other has more AF points. niether wins either battle though, as the iso 800 noise looks like my mkiii's 2000, and the 51 point system has been found to be lacking in any actual power due to bad programming)

Since Canon is keeping the 40D in their lineup, I'd say the D90 and the 40D compete.
I'd say the 50D is poised to compete with the D300.

I'd agree with that.

I love the movie mode.
Making macro movies with the sigma 150 would be awesome!

Keeping things in focus with a fast enough aperture to shoot a movie at macro distance would be nearly impossible.
I think the severe limitations of dSLR based videography are about to be discovered by Nikon users.
