I am needing to start putting photos on DVD's with background music. Any suggestions on programs and how to go about it? Can Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 or any earlier versions do it? Do I have to go get a different program? I have heard of using Roxio easy cd dvd creator and Magix any pros and cons to these? Thanks for any help you can give me!

http://www.photodex.com/ This is an excellent program for what you're looking to do. Depending on your needs, there is a smaller, less bells and whistles version called Gold. For the full-blown Pro level there is Producer. Trial versions are available also.

I use proshow gold by photodex. I am producing very professional looking and sounding slideshows. I've learned how to fade music in and out to blend with the images which really adds to the quality. Like louis said, you can try it for free to see if you like it. Also, you can get a book on proshow slideshows that can be quite helpful (can't remember the title - you can google it.)
Good luck . . . and have fun!

Make sure whatever program you decide on can burn dvd's that will play on dvd players. I found in the beginning when I was trying different programs out that some will produce dvd's that will only play on computers.

Another vote for ProShow Gold. I use it to put together slide shows for the HS teams that I shoot. The initial learning curve is short and it's very easy to put a show together.

Oh, I just remembered something else. There is a proshow users forum that you can subscribe to that will send emails of the postings. That can be a very helpful resource.

That advice is a little useless, don't you think?
You are advising that the OP purchase thousands of dollars of equipment to burn a DVD, when the software exists both free, and professional, and does the job perfectly, with the equipment he has.

another ProShow vote. I had a montage business and started out with the ProShow Gold software and it took me to the next level. It is a great program and completely affordable.

We find proshow producer to be more reliable than proshow gold. We use high res jpgs usually1 to 3 MB usually.

I always use my high rez images - I think the program converts them to what it needs (sorry I don't have the right terminology . . . ) I belong to an unofficial proshow group where you can ask any question you have and get answers. Here is the link: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/proshowgroup/
