A photo of a normal view for people who live in the main cites in Scotland, this one is in Aberdeen and is far from what most people picture scotland as, yea Scotland has some nice bits but from day to day this is it.

Cool shot, but it's always better to post on site than having to make people click off.

I can empathise with you, but don't be too discouraged by this. 302:1 is hardly an uncommon view-to-response ratio here on POTN.

(Just out of interest, have you posted in every thread you've viewed? I sure don't...so you can see how the 'view count' can quickly run away due to casual passers-by).

I suppose the 'problem' (for lack of a better word) with your pic here is that it's neither overwhelmingly great or amazingly bad. Try posting a shocker....then you'll see the comments flood in!! The technical aspects of your shot are fine - great colour, exposure, DOF - and I think you've captured the mood of the streetscape very well.

Normally I'm not fussed on centred subjects, but in this case I think it works.

That said, the subject isn't particularly intriguing. The barricading on the right-hand side is very 'busy' and for me, a little distracting. I would possibly have waited till the pedestrian (LHS) was a bit further down the street - but will concede this is not always possible when taking 'opportune' street shots.

All up, good shot. Techincally great, good mood to it, but for my liking, a little....bland.

BTW; I had a look at your Flickr...loved Irn Bru on the beach and Day Dream...much more captivating IMHO!

Thanks for sharing!

agreed with the above, the bullzeyed sign doesnt allow for very creative composition. I find myself wanting to know why the road is closed or what is going on behind the sign. If you shoot it with the sign lower, it will still be a prominent part of the picture, but the viewer will have more interesting things to be drawn to.
