My camera settings are to capture using Adobe RGB. When opening the image in PS CS and I want to resize and save for email or web how do I convert it to sRGB, is it by going 'Image' - 'Mode' - 'Convert To Profile' and select sRGB? I don't really use the 'save for web' command as i prefer to do most images indivdually.

Also how can I quickly tell what colour space an image is? On the image window it will read something like *******.JPG @ 100% (RGB/8), does this change depending as to which colour space is being used?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, that's how you convert to sRGB, and you should do this before using Save For Web, which doesn't change the profile so the colors can look off when viewed.

To check the current profile you have to go to Image... Mode... Convert to Profile and then check and hit cancel. Or look at the status bar at the bottom left where it probably says something like "DOC 651K/0 Bytes" and click on the triangle to the right of that. You can choose "Document Profile" from that list.

The "RGB/8" in the title bar is just the color mode and bits per color, RGB/16 or RGB/8 or Index or Gray/8, etc. It has nothing to do with the color space.

Beside what Scott suggested, you can also click on the little "right" arrow at the bottom of the image window and select "Document profile". The color space selected for the image will be displayed to the left o the arrow.

Isn't that the same as what I said? The arrow that lets you choose Doc Size, or Profile or Efficieny or Timing, etc? Or is there another place, since I like leaving that on Dimensions?

Doh! Yup, that's what you said. :o Unfortunately, I started reading the paragraph and stopped after the 2nd sentence. I thought the rest was a continuation of the same train of thought.

You see, now you know why god invented the Carriage Return key to start out a new paragraph, right. It's all your fault.

I'm sorry.

From now on
