A nice shot, but I'm not sure what you mean by hard to get?
Hard to get is trying for a shot at point of ignition.

well, i was working with a tripod and a point and shoot... by the time i got the dang thing to focus and take the picture the matchstick went out most of the time.
it was my first time attempting a macro of something that wasn't exactly "sitting still"
i'd like to see some pics of the ignition though, that sounds really neat

You've done well in that case.
Is it possible to set you P&S to manual mode and have it prefocussed so it's ready to shoot?
Also set your match up so it's held in place with something and try lighting it using heat from a jet lighter (not the flame).
This is a shot I did using a jet lighter to heat the head of the match.
I initially timed it and got an 8 sec delay so I set up another and got this shot anticipating roughly 8 sec delay to ignition.
Hope this helps.

Yeah that was using the MP-65E macro lens so it was fairly close.
Luckily the house survived but the table, chairs and living room needed replacing.
Still I had fun.
