Not to be disrespectful but ran across this in a local cemetery and thought better language could have been used.

that is unusual.......theres an old cemetary not too far from here, that has alot of old handmade headstones. I was talking to my father about it and he told me that my grandad had actually made several of those headstones, weird things you find out about your family.

Doesn't it just mean that the school children erected the tombstone (stood it up)

I guess mikesd was going for the pervey interpretation of the superintendent being "erected" himself by seeing school children? :p
I guess the English back then had different connotations and general usage, right? ;)
