Both political conventions have been deemed "National Special Security Events" so the behavior of law enforcement is by whatever standards law enforcement themselves deem necessary:

Maybe all this will change with a new administration...
(And maybe the monkeys will fly out of my, ahem...)

Interesting. I had never heard of that.
You never know what happened, but they sure make it sound like there was something they didn't want anyone to see.
I bet John Edwards wishes they had cops like this in LA! :)

I want my country back.

A tea party led by photographers......
"Lets let them know how we feel........ It's time to take back our country! Live free or...... Dude, is that the D700?"
"Sure is"
"Sweet. To bad you Nikon guys had to wait 3 years for full frame."
"It was worth it. At least I'm not shooting a three year old 5D."
"Well, wait till photokina."
"I'm going. I'll take a quick video of the Canon booth with my D90."
"Hey, you know what the best thing about Canon lenses are, Noink?"
"What"
"Their weight!"
*Crowd erupts into riot as Canon shooter clubs Nikon shooter in melon with 70-200 2.8. Chaos ensues.
Problems remain unresolved.*

On the bright side, I bet the 70-200 didn't have a mark on it! :)

I watched the news last night and saw a portion of this video. I can't believe that we can not photograph or video tape on public streets anymore---- freedom of the press is no more. This is crap! I cannot believe that we as Americans sit back and let this happen.
The cop pushes him into the street and then threatens him that he is in the way of traffic..........what kind of yahoo police tactic is this? ?
We need to lobby against this type of behavior. I would suggest that we as photographers and American citiczens contact your local congressman/senator and the Denver Police Department and let them know what you think of this.

EDIT: Here is more contact info for other Colorado officials. http://www.kengorman.org/call-to-action/ all of them rec'd a personal email from me.
