Pekka (or anyone who knows):
When I registered, I was assigned the status of Jr. Member. I notice that others, such as Curby, are Sr Members. How did he get to be so much more senior than me? What determines our status on this forum? Is it a function of how many postings you make?

Thanks for the information,

Jr. Member, phil 8--)

That's right, it's a function of the number of messages you have posted... :)

The user classes came with the forum code, and they can be omitted it needed. I could also make some new user classes like "he-who-writes-much" after 150 posts or "Still learning" after 500 posts :)

Basically they are just there to give you a hint who's a regular "contributor", but hey don't tell anything about quality of the posts.

Cool idea Pekka,

With the status rating based on activity shows viewers immediately who is active in the group and who is not.

Now the categories are:

0 posts - guest
1 post - Member
25 posts - Active Member
50 posts - Very Active Member

More might come later. I'll have to add some funny icons to those statuses...

There's also "moderator" ( who can edit/delete and move messages) and "administrator" (who runs the show).

I also made hack that you don't see "edited by..." messages directly, they are now inserted as comments into html source code for reference. This is because I don't think it's not essential for each message to point so visibly out if people have edit their messages for spelling errors or link corrections, or me editing e.g. quoting problems and other visual errors.
