Is this a Magicstor card? They've got a very (read run away screaming) bad reputation. And please clarify; you successfully create a 1 GB video file, but download fails 2/3 of the way through? Can you view the file successfully on the camera? Are you downloading via the camera and Canon's cable, or have you tried using a separate card reader?

Is this a Magicstor card? They've got a very (read run away screaming) bad reputation. Yes, it is a Magistor card.
And please clarify; you successfully create a 1 GB video file, but download fails 2/3 of the way through? Can you view the file successfully on the camera? No, I cannot download the file. I cannot view the file, it stops and turn camera off. Problem was still there with much smaller file. I think there will be a bad sector on the card
Are you downloading via the camera and Canon's cable, or have you tried using a separate card reader? I tried both. I think there will be a bad sector on the card.

You might possibly be able to use a file recovery utility like Software Shelf (http://www.softwareshelf.com/default.asp)'s File Rescue Plus. Or a disk recovery tool such as WinHex (http://www.x-ways.net/winhex/index-m.html). Or send it away to a data recovery specialist like OnTrack (http://www.ontrack.com/) if it's really important. Otherwise, just flush the card and write it off as a lesson learned.
