Funny thing is, my best pictures were of the opening bands...haha!

CnC always welcome!

All were shot with my D30, no flash, ISO800-1600 and switched between my 70-210 and my 50. I took over 300, most of them had "security" personnel in the shots, but what can you do?

I find #3 and #4 to be my faves. from this set... Some seem a bit soft.

I've done no PP on these, so feel free to show any improvements.

Biggest technical problem is the blown highlights. (all images except #2 and 4)
Some are more then 1 stop, maybe 2 overexposed.
Did you shoot Raw? You might be able to recover some then.

I like #4 the best, but would crop and brighten it a bit.

I noticed that a lot when I was going back through trying to pick the 8 best. Unfortunately, I didn't shoot raw. I only had a 512 card and had to take lots of pictures.

In the future, I'm getting a bigger card and exposure bracketing, in addition to RAW (or is that redundant?) I really haven't used RAW in the past, I think it's about time.

edit: I also don't have a khaki vest...do I need to get one? :p

IMO shooting Raw *and* bracketing is redundant. You can recover about a stop in Raw (with quality loss obviously), but my experience with bracketing is that the best shot will have the worst exposure ;)

Khaki vest?

I'll have to play around with it some, the 10D is showing up today to replace the D30 (I enjoy being a few years behind the curve...gear is cheap!).

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I never did figure out how to exposure bracket with my D30, not that I tried too hard. In a setting like this, I can definitely see your point, long exposures would make bracketing a real chore.

Khaki vest?
