It was real slow at work yesterday afternoon so a couple of us decided to fish through the "declined estimates" of camera repairs that have been sitting in the office for the past 5 years! As we were going through them and tossing out the junk, I came across an old EOS 650 body and lens. The ticket said the shutter was locked up on the body, but the lens mounted to it was the renown metal mount 50mm f1.8 lens and was in perfect shape. So, guess what came home with me last night! My manager said I could have it!
And I don't know if it's just me or not, but it seems like the older 50mm lens is slightly sharper than the new one I bought a while back. I already have another person at work who wants to buy my plastic mount 50mm!

I'll trade you straight across for a mint mark 2, a slighly used coffee cup, one well worn converse hightop tennis shoe and three cat eye marbles. Plus ten bucks.

Those old 50F1.8's are lined with lead which is very toxic.
You should put it in the marketplace and get rid of it immediately!
Actually, just drop me a line and I can take it off your hands and dispose of it for you.

I don't believe I ever said anything about wanting to get rid of this lens. :p

the original 1.8 wasnt as sharp as the mark2 I belive while it was better built it still lacked a little quality.

After extensive searching, I've found the other converse hightop tennis shoe and Iam now fully prepared to add to my previous offer a complete set of pre 1969 converse hightops and a mint 52 mm UV haze filter.

I got lucky and found one used at a local camera shop yesterday. It just so happened that I was shooting a night club last night so I was in the market for a faster lense. Needless to say I picked it up. Not for free, I had to pay $120 for it, but it took great pics last night! I'll post in the urban life forum tonight.
