I am going to be in Memphis from 14 to 19 October. I will be staying right down town. What is there to do and see in Memphis? I love blues, dark beer ( the darker the better and I prefer small micro-brewers), BBQ, and photography (not necessarily in that order). Any input will be appreciated.

Go to Beale Street. It has everything you're looking for.

Beale Street is like a much milder version of Bourbon Street, but there are a few good spots. The Rum Boogie Cafe is good for beer and blues. Sun Studios is well worth a visit, the birthplace of rock'n'roll. Graceland of course if you don't mind the crowds of tourists (the car and aeroplane museum is good). The Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King. was shot. Also check out the ducks at the Peabody Hotel.

Thanks. Any restrictions on photography on Beale Street?

Not that I'm aware of, although I've only been there once, about 2 years ago. It's an interesting place, you should have a great time. :D

i live about 30 minutes south of memphis, haven't been downtown in a while. i'd just say be cautious with your camera if you take it with you. my brother lives in memphis, he says there is alot of panhandling going on but there is some interesting scenery.
there's also the zoo, a few museums, a botanic garden.
it's not downtown but there is a place called Corky's, that has really good bbq.
hope you enjoy it.
