So I want/need to practice my B&W conversions; all these were shot in color. I want to bring out the most complete tonality possible. They are inprted from photobuck you know the story on loosing quality.
C &C welcome.
(conversion done with levels/curves)

I like the lock and the last shot with the truck in the field. The first shot of the truck isn't cropped as "interestingly" as the last. The others seem to lack theme and quality of contrast. Keep going though, or repost some of the supports with different pp because I do like the geometry, but without the contrast to make it stand out, it just sits there.

Good starting place.. and I agree about needing more contrast. Are you shooting in RAW? If so I'd pull down some of the highlights and push the shadows, especially in that last shot..

If not and in addition to the above... try doing USM around 16-40-0 to add some contrast without putting in too much grain. See what you think.

That last shot is my favorite... and I'd do a quick edit for you if you would like. Just turn on the "image editing okay" button in your User CP Preferences. If not that's okay too. :)

thank you all for the comments. image editing turned on for those that want to play; just add a note stating what you did so we all can learn.

Kristy, USM? also, no i shot these in Large JPEG, I was gone for the whole weekend and was worried I might run out of card space using RAW.

Thanks peeps:)

That's Unsharp Mask (USM). 16-40-0 means Amount/Radius/Threshold settings in USM.
