Hi Everyone,

I liked to occasionally waste a day taking a few pictures at Brands Hatch when I lived down south. However I've moved to Yorkshire and just down the road from Croft - There is some sort of racey thing going on tomorrow and I'm planning to attend but would LOVE IT if people could give me suggestions of the ideal spots to take a few snaps rather than spend most of the day hunting for these spots.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Should be a good weekend at Croft.

Northern Sports & Saloons are usually good, hopefully the turn-out will be better than the previous round though. Legends are always great with big fields & close racing. The Kuhmo BMW's gave us a huge start line accident last time they were up and this Performance & Economy Chip Tuning Sports Saloon thingy is new to Croft. Add in the Max5 and MG Owners Club races and it looks pretty good.

Timetable is here

As for shooting spots...refer to this diagram so things make more sense..

Looking through the fence next to the Grandstand back up the start grid is a classic Croft shot.

Down at Hawthorn there are some nice holes in the fence.

From the Chicane up to the crossing point is fence free.

There is NO public access from the Crossing(near the kink on the run to Tower), up past Tower to the jim Clark Esses / Barcroft and Sunny in.

Between Sunny In & Out is doable with a long lens (400mm or less for pans).

Sunny Out down to Complex In forces you to stretch over the fence. I can get away with it but i'm tall-ish.

There's a good angle at the Paddock gate looking to the complex as long as there's no trucks parked there.

If the Crossing is open then there's a couple of possibilities from the Infield too, but there's no guarantee that it will be accessible for a club meet.
Look for the wooden gate and shoot back to the hairpin

Near the crossing looking back towards the Chicane

That should do you for starters.
