I'm an amateur-enthusiast living currently in Beligum and have started doing weddings. I've found 2 online photobook sites (more to print my own albums as examples of my work but also for potential clients) and have tried their products but I'm not 100% convinced on either. Here's my feedback, what do you think?
1. www.tictacphoto.com
Local Belgian company. The paper is 250gsm, thick, high gloss and fantastic quality BUT you easily leave finger marks due to the high gloss of the paper. The colours are superb and accurately reproduced. The book cover is linen and doesn't look exceptionally professional but it's OK. The stitching is poor. The software is very easy to use but it didn't offer enough options or templates. I'll stick to it for friends for inexpensive albums.
2. www.photobookeurope.com
This is a worldwide service. They state that they use Italian acid-free paper, 170gsm from www.fedrigoni.com I made a wedding photography book with white pages. The cover looks superb and the album comes in a matching box - looks professional and the binding is great. Downsides: the colours look undersaturated and I'm wondering if it's the paper being matt versus gloss? My colleagues at work said that they preferred this type of paper and it was perhaps more flattering on faces. But, the paper seems too thin - ok, I used white pages but if you hold the page up, you can see through to what's printed on the reverse side. It's not alarmingly noticeable but I was rather suprised. Is this normal for 170 gsm paper? Other than that, the software is perfect for my needs!

What paper type is best? What thickness or gsm? I'm looking for very good quality.

I've noticed that the higher quality online albums (Queensberry etc) require you to make up your own pages and then send them through and this is not what I'm looking for. I'm not in that league. What is the most professional and easy to use online photobook service which has it's own software that you download online?

Thanks!
