ISO 1600 with your rebel Xt gives a very noisy result.

Since your shutter speed was 1/1000 you could have gone down to ISO 400 and have a shutter speed of around 250 i believe. Or lower your aperature from F10 to f5.6 to give you even more speed in your shutter or less noise with your ISO.

You will get familiar with the Rebel XT soon so keep shooting!

P.S and also try to keep your camera settings on Large format...that will help it become less pixely too.
