I convinced my cousin to let me take a few shots of him. Still learning pretty much everything! But I'm having a great time doing so. This is my first posted image so please critique/advise as necessary. Be brutal if you have too! I wanted to keep his face somewhat soft and unrecognizable so I focused on his hands and pants. I think my lighting was crappy, but like I said...still learning. Shot w/ 20D 50mm f1.8. Thanks.

I like what you're going for here. You've set the mood nicely with that lighting. And the idea of the out-of-focus face is great.
Your focus, however, does not appear to be on the hands. It appears to me to be on that pile of clothing to the right. The hands are fuzzy looking.
It's a cool shot. you should have another go and use your largest apertur while you focus on the hands.

Thanks Blur,

Now that you mention it, you are totally right...the focus was more towards the right side and not on the hands. Thanks for the compliment on my idea of the out-of-focus face. I'm gonna take another go at it and see what happens.
