Hello

I'm a bit of a newbie to PS, but I'm sure I saw somewhere that you can select a part of the image that should be pure white and the rest of the picture adapts accordingly.

I am thinking more in a high key portrait where if your background is not pure white then you can place the mouse on the background and change it to pure white.

Am I going mad or is this something that is possible?

Tks

Use either Levels or Curves in Photoshop. Image, Adjustments, Levels. Or Image, Adjustments, Curves.

Click on the right eyedropper in the dialog box and then click on whatever you would like to be white. If you don't like the effect, click somewhere else and keep doing it until you see something appealing. Otherwise, exit the dialog box or hold your Alt key and the "Cancel" becomes a "Reset" and you can start over.

You also set the Black and Neutral points the same way, except you click on the Black or Neutral eyedroppers first.
