For the uninformed among us what is a dump and burn? Also, what was the occasion for the fireworks?

Dump and burn, I assume that refers dumping the fuel and igniting it, but over a city :shock:

Yes they ignite the after burners & then do a fuel dump. The fuel that is being jettisoned ignites.

They do it here quite a lot but it will all stop soon as the F-111 is a very old aircraft & is going to be replaced soon.

Yes. Here in Brisbane we are lucky enough to have this spectacular event every weekend on Saturday nights.
