Not a new one to our garden but only the second time I have seen one. Very very small and extremely thin but oh so pretty - this is a female.
I nearly missed this altogether thinking it was a mossie, anyway had real difficulty getting pics as they tend to be low to the ground and they are so thin its difficult to get focus lol - imagine a syritta pippiens and think half as thin!
Pics cropped a bit.

LOL, Thanks Brian, they really are quite beautiful, just for comparison, here is one of the previous pics I took - this one had a little more weight on it though lol.

Thats very kind of you Bill it really is :D
The birding is something I struggle with a bit with the 400mm but I keep trying when I get the time to get out to a reserve. I find it much easier with the 70-200 F4L but then of course I need to be that bit closer.
My last lense purchase was the 24-105 F4L IS USM so that I could try some landscape-type shots, especially with autumn rapidly approaching, and also any other opportunities that might arrive for using that lense. Its pretty good for close-ups too, so its a good all-round lense, but am looking forward to getting some more varied types of pics when I can get the time to get out and about.

Thanks very much Dai - yes, they are fascinating and a subject I am trying to get more familiar with.
Thanks again.

Great job Linda
#1 and #4 are nice shots
although the pistil in #2 blocking some of the subject is slightly distracting , I find it a nice series overall!
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks very much :D - yes, I agree about the distraction, but I have forgiven myself purely because it was difficult enough getting any pics of this one, so I am happy to overlook the distraction LOL.

Very nice shots Linda. There are similar (or the same?) in our garden...but they tend to fly away just as the flash goes off...quite frustrating!:)

Thanks Paul.
They may well be the same as I believe there is only this one that has such an elongated body with this shape.
Do you have a diffuser on the flash? I have my flash (580EX) attached to the hotshoe on the camera with a Lumiquest Softbox on that, which rarely frightens insects off.

Thanks Pete - yes, info that I have read says they are overlooked a lot because of the difficulty in seeing them.
