Hello people!
I'm awaiting my Canon 2x teleconverter, which I'll be trying on my D60 with a 70-200 f/2.8L. I've heard a few bad (and good) things about this converter, and was wondering if anyone of you out there had experience of using the 2x with the D60, or the same lens.
Any tips, good things, bad things or just general info. would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I have been using a 2X converter with a 2.8 70-200 L IS for about 6 months. Works great on wildlife shots and is better than blowing up the picture by 2x.

Thanks Phil; nice to know that it works! Are you using a D60?

No, still using a D30, but thinking about a 1D. You might want to start weight lifting because the system is pretty heavy.
I was going to buy a 100-400 plus a 1.4x but the salesman recommended the 70-200 plus 2x, he used it for auto racing. I have been very pleased with it. Use it mainly for wildlife, birds and horse shows.

Hi,
Phil is right. I use a D30 with a 100-400L IS and when I add the 2x converter It makes the whole thing very heavy. I do not like to lose the AF with the converter so I tend to not use it. I also find that the image quality is much poorer with the converton attached (maybe its my manual focusing that's at fault)

Anyway, that's going to be one super telephoto u got there.
D60 magnification=1.6X
2x converter = 2x
Total= 3.2X

so @ 200mm it BECOMES 640mm!
:P

Indeed: 640mm! I received the 2X converter today, took a few test shots, and am very pleased so far. :)

I've shot some goldfinches with the 70-200 f2.8 and the Canon 2X on the D60 with fill flash and I was very pleased with the detail in the feathers, etc. I don't think the D60 focuses as well as the EOS 3 but when it does... it is quite remarkable. You'll probably want to lightly sharpen anything you shoot with the D60, I tend to use unsharp mask with amount between 60-80%, Radius between 6-8 and threshold at 0. Have fun! And remember not to stop down beyond 11 1/3...
