Which one you guys & GALS like the best? I'm show casing a product for an over seas maker and I want the best photo picked from you all.

By the way I do play guitar and very WELL and yes I do play bottleneck slide guitar :)

I like the composition of the last one best.

I would re-shoot it with better lighting, proper exposure, and real setups. As they are, they look like random snapshots in a messy room. Not showcase quality, IMHO.

The light is kinda harsh... you should try to diffuse or bounce it for some softer shadows. Also, you should use a white background like some posterboard for those tight compositions like the last one. That'll make it really stand out.

Thanks everyone.

cdifoto, Your right about the messy music room.

I'll probably reshoot tomorrow and use the defusier panel that came with the 430 EX.

It's not really a diffuser panel, it's a wide panel. It just scatters the light to cover a wider area. Try bouncing off of a nearby wall and maybe dial in some negative FEC to soften it up real nice.

And turn the flash head from the object a little bit?

As far as the flash power goes, you gotta experiment. With the flash head, I would definitely point it away from your subject so the light bounces back at it and gives you softer shadows. Here's my favorite site for flash techniques -
http://planetneil.com/ - one of the best sites on the net to learn from.

Wow, after reading one tutorial on and messing around I can do soft shadows but yet keep the flash bouncing around on the room.

Let me post a snap shot of what I've learned.
