Hi all,
I had this great opportunity to extend a business trip to the New York City area with a couple of days to visit Manhattan. Here is a photo I took inside the hotel lobby. It is looking upwards the elevator construction. I cropped it to square since that just seemed to improve the picture.
What do you think. Where/how could I improve this picture? I am looking forward to your feedback.
(G3 at full wide-angle, f/2.0, and 1/4 sec exposure, no flash).

The white balance seems to be off, and the photo looks underexposed.
A cool concept but could have been better executed.

Thanks ChP.
I used automatic exposure, so I doubt whether it technically is underexposed. But I agree that it has a darkish look (but isn't that true for most long exposure shots?) Anyway I'll try to lighten it a bit to see what happens. It might blow out the highlights on the elevators.
With respect to white balance, also that was on auto, but I know that doesn't say much. I also auto-leveled it in PS. I am wondering, why you say that white balance is off. Just wanting to learn. Sure there is a yellow/brown main color, but this is what the place looked like (at least as far as I remember).

It's a really strong and dynamic composition, top marks for 'seeing' the picture. If that is the colour you saw then there is little to fault. Well done.
Martin.

Bloo Dog and V6GTO, thanks for the nice words.
All,
Looking at the shot again, I don't like the black triangle in the upper left corner. Do you agree? Should I clone it out (the bordering surface is easily smooth.)

I stand corrected on the white balance issue. I guess when I first looked at the photo I wanted to see white stone and therefore assumed bad WB.
I agree with msol about the black triangle, however, as I said before a cool concept.
