I've been out on the town learning more about fstops and so on.
Dang it, I've forgot to do my horizon check again on the first snap.

I thought you like the second shot.
Its one of my favorites.

Funny second shot.
You need to straighten it up...more so the first shot for sure.
I think the first shot has a potential for being an interesting shot.
The crooked horizon never gives the capture the chance it may deserve.

Nicksan, Thanks mate for looking I have a question?
Will this happen a lot if it's in the center weighted metering?
Because I've noticed since I've put it on cn metering I've been getting crooked shots.

This has nothing to do with metering.
Identify any horizontal or vertical lines in the frame and make sure they are straight if you intend them to be.
This can be corrected in PP as well...

Nicksan, Any tips in correcting them in ps? Photoshop?
I know that pisca "if I pronounced it right does it very easy but messes up the picture folders some how.

Photoshop with the crop tool.
Or lightroom with the straighten tool
easy to do.
Select with the crop tool with the top line along the horizon.
Move the pointer to just outside one of the corners till you see a curved arrow
Rotate and adjust till the top line of the crop select is straight on the horizon.
Select the top and side bounding boxes (in the middles) to increase the size of the crop to fit as much of the picture in as you can (hope this makes sense)
Hit enter to complete the crop.
Here is your photo done that way (I was not too careful at the bottom left, so you can see a bit of the background still. Another small crop would fix that (or a bit of cloning)).

Learning to crop is one of the best things you can learn to do. Use it to get rid of the things around your main subject that are not necessary for the shot. Your shot will thank you.
You can crop in camera too by zooming in.

I knew basic cropping technique's but I didn't know you could fix angles.

The last shot could have done with some cropping to isolate the ducks. Oh and it would look a bit better if you got down a little lower for the shot (last one). Watch out for that water though.
LOL
Edit: you could have turned your camera sideways for that shot too.

I know I'm still learning so much at one time it's kind of mind boggling.

There is a lot to think about with photography.
I was lucky to have a video background (a lot of transferable knowledge) before I got into photography.
Photography is an art to be sure.

Looks like this has been explained already.
Also, in Photoshop CS3, you can use the lens correction filter to correct the perspective. Then to crop out the "blank border(s)" or whatever you call it, you can "zoom" in via the same tool.
Also mess around with curves, shadow/highlights, Unsharp Mask, color saturation, etc...to give it some pop.
Here's what I was able to do with it in 5 minutes in Photoshop CS2.
Before:

After:
http://nicksan.zenfolio.com/img/v0/p62035519-4.jpg
Filter->Distor->Lens Correction
Change Horizontal Perspective so that the horizon is level.
Change the Scale so that the "checkered" edges are gone.(essentially cropping them out.)
I also added some vignetting (may have been too much!) to try to isolate the log.
Then I played around with the levels.
Then I pulled down the curves a little.
Then I increased saturation on the Blues.
Then I applied USM to sharpen it up some.
That's all...

I'll dress up in an ape/bigfoot costume and you can photo me.
Then again, it's impossible to photo a ninja... maybe the 5D mkII will have a sensor capable of capturing a ninja... but how do you photo a fleeting shadow in the dark of night? Mmm

Thermal cameras don't work on ninjas, we can adjust our outer body temperature to match our surroundings. That's how we kill all the predator aliens that secretly come to earth... every day!
Even if a camera was sensitive enough to catch a ninja, all the shots would be completely white, because the only thing you can see from a ninja is AWESOME, pure AWESOME! So the only camera that could "see" a ninja, is one that could capture "awesome". Maybe canon will release one.
Only another ninja can see another ninja.
Only another ninja can kill another ninja.
These are pure scientific facts BTW.
