Calendars

I just got done showing my boss some of my pictures I have taken over the last several months and he was very impressed! He wants me to put together some numbers on what it would cost to produce my companies 2006 calendar. He wants a full color 12 month calendar with the company logo.

Does anyone have any experience with getting calendars printed? I have done a couple through Shutterfly.com but they are not geared towards business clients. The quantity will be between 750-1,000 calendars!

I would appreciate any input you can provide.

I should have done a search first and usually do but was so excited at the news I didn't think about it.

Now, I just did a search and the basic message I got was that Kinko's seems to be the place to go, but they use laser printers so the images are not very good. I am hopeful that with a run of 750+ I could go to a high-end printer and still have a reasonable cost.

I will keep searching and if I find anything will post it here.

If you find a better way definitely post it! I'd love to get a small run of calendars done for my family, but i've not found anyone who can do it here in NZ.

There are commercial print companies that will do medium-size runs (e.g. 500 and more).

There are service bureaus, e.g. Kinkos, that will do small runs, e.g. 1-20. However, every one of those that I have found so far use a color laser printer, which I find to be unsatisfactory for good photos.

I always end up buying $200 worth of inkjet cartridges and I do it myself.

I print my own, but thats about 12-15 per year. Kinko's is not a good solution, for the reasons given. There are many "specialty" calendars available, so there must be lots of printing companies for the job. Who does your company annual Report or other required print jobs? (Our company always had its own in-house printing equipment and could easily do calendars, so we never went outside for printing.)

Tim try Calendar Printers (http://www.printusa.com/quotes/calendars.html) also look in the yellow pages for commercial printers. Let your fingers do the walking.

I know it is only Febuary but, I would get this project rolling ASAP because you don't know how long it will take to get it designed and to press and delivered. Mid to late December is not the time to be getting delivery of your calendars. You should have them in your hand by late October early November.

Not overly cheap, but not too bad, and looks like it'd be reasonable quality, plus they ship internationally :)

So do I read that correctly? If you want a 12 page, 12 photo calendar, the price is a multiple of the $1.95 etc.. Or about $25 US for an 8x10 12 page with 12 photos?

Maybe be less costly than printing yourself using templates and then spiral binding.

Around December, many of the color laser service bureaus to a calendar like that for about $18-20, or less if you order a quantity. If the print quality were really good, I would go that route, but color lasers aren't that great.

Try phopar.com. They are a local company here that does a lot of professional and commercial printing. My local camera club is having them do a calender for us. Just send them an email and with what you need and they will let you know what the cost would be. The calenders I have seen from them are great quality. Photos look great.
