I see a lot of people using "their name" + Photography and then their are others that use a completely different name like "The Image Guy" (made up name, if found to be real completely coincidental)Anyway was just thinking of names and was wondering what would be more affective

Opinions?

I took the made up name route and went with two separate names. One for commissioned works (weddings, portraits, events, etc.) and another for artistic images routed through galleries and direct sales. I also separated it since my artistic images have some nudes in the portfolio and throwing landscapes on a site centered around weddings just looks cheesy, imo.

As I work with more customers and need to hire another photographer, I can project the studio identity to include a group of people with a common culture rather than a single person's vision. I could also freelance as myself with no apparent studio connection if I chose to go that route.

I just think it offers more options.

My $0.02 and worth about that... ;)

I change what I do a lot so my business name is Platte Productions and I can do just about anything under that - I do have sub-names too, I think for me being to specific is limiting.
