That's a great effort. Are they multiple long explosures or one long exposure? I do a lot of long exposures and just got a Canon 40D so I'd be interested to know how the noise is for 1 to 2 minute exposures.

Thanks Rosie and Tim :)

@ Tim, those are "one long exposures". The 40D has impeccable noise performance.

Have you thought about investing in PTLens to correct the lens distortions?

Just a thought.

Excellent. Must try this myself some time. What sort of shutter speed, or should that be shutter slow, did you use? :)

Nice. This looks like a 15 to 20 minute exposure?

Thanks everyone! :)

@ jrader, nope, i bought 10-22 because of its distortion, i wouldnt do that! :p

@ everyone, this is an approximately 30 minute exposure (each).

Very cool shots, I plan to try that this weekend on a camping trip. Couple questions, What is the exif data for these shots, was the moon out, and how did you keep the noise down? Everytime I try one of these shots I end up with alot of noise even at iso 100. Thanks and great shots

One more, how did you get the trees to light up, were you using a flashlight to illuminate the trees a little bit during your exposure or was there another form of light doing that?

I'm assuming a very small aperture and low iso to keep it from over-exposing?
