I seem to remember somewhere in my 40D guide, that they recommend using an optional power cord to attach to your battery charger when charging in European countries. Ie..not to use the battery charger + voltage adapter alone.
ANyone know if this is true? If so, what's the part number for this cord???

I suppose one of the adapter kits, I don't think there will be any problems using a converter. My friend was doing that for his rebel when I was traveling in Europe. Just check if the charger has the right voltage.

I was in Germany for 3 years and never had any problems charging the XXD and 1D batteries using just the plug adapter. Be wary of transformers though, the freq is slightly off in some models (suppposed to be 60Hz for 110V)...shortens the life of rechargebale batteries.

I just used the plug adapter last week in Italy. It worked fine the changers are auto sensing.

Your Canon-supplied charger has its own voltage conversion built in, do not worry. Use ONLY a plug adapter, do not use a separate voltage conversion device with the Canon charger!
