I tried them on my 100-400 and 17-40 and the images were a lot better without the filters. I take it you only want them for a bit of protection?
I just make sure the lens hood is on all the time to take any small knocks etc.

This is the one I would also get. I have had the Hoya and thought their coating was less than impressive. Made cleaning quite difficult. Also, get them from HVStar.
